inline six info

I recently picked up a 250inline six for my 62, which was a 235 truck. I'm wondering if the 235 front mount will bolt up to the 250 block. It mounts behind the timing cover and behind the gears. I got a mount from the junkyard today and discovered its quite the undertaking to remove. Would I be better off just making side mounts or is this gonna work? I know nothing about these engines so any info would be awesome.

Well wait for some other replies, but I do believe the mounts on a 250 and 235 are the same just has to be slid to a different position. I believe it was the 292 that was reversed mounts. But I think you can use the same mounts as on the 235.

235 should be front mount, 250 will be "mid" mount. I do not believe you can put front mounts on a 250.

The 250 does not have a front end plate that you can bolt a mount to like on a 235. See if the engine has two tapped holes facing forward on either side of the timing cover. If it does, you can make brackets that will bolt to those holes and reach the crossmember. If no holes, install a pair of 63-up engine mounting brackets and use those with side mounts.

You will have to use any of the newer mid mounts.(perches) ie. 230,250, sbc etc.

The later straight sixes, less the 292 which has a short mount and offset, use same as a sbc
