Question What color should I paint my truck?

I'll be getting my truck painted in June and I don't know if I should paint the truck the origional olive green and white or paint it sherwood pearl green (like the color of the willys wagon on truckstv) Will it hurt my trucks value if I don't paint it the origional color and paint it sherwood pearl green and pearl white? I'd like to hear everyones advice and opinions. Thank you

If you paint it black the cops wont see you as fast early in the morning when you go to work.

Thats why I painted mine black.

If everything on the truck is stock original, you might want to stay original for resale value. If it has already been modified, paint it the color YOU like. I love to see an all original truck, but I personally like customized trucks better.

I like the olive and white, but I don't think that a different color would adversly affect the value of your truck. I am posting a picture of a dark green truck, not olive but close.

I like the olive green on these trucks, though I am somewhat partial to blue. I wonder why? Like 70c10 said if its all origianal, keep it origianal. If its not, do what you like the best.

i like orginal stuff, but all that matters is that you like it. it wont hurt the value much i dont think. it would only make the orginal guys think twice.

my fav is the orange and white. but i like all the colors, even the burnt orange!

I had a '67 Firebird that was originally Signet gold. I changed it to Corvette Rally Red.

If you change colors, remember that one tell-tale sign is failure to do it correctly, i.e., door jambs, under the hood, bottom side of trunk lid, etc.

Remove all body gaskets, weather stripping, chrome, bodyside moldings, etc. It would be good to remove the front and back glasses, too, and install new weatherstrip/mouning gaskets.

IF you do it right, it will show that you did. IF not, it will show, too, and it will count against you when you go to sell or show it.

Preparation is the key.

As for the color, if you are planning to change from the original, do it right. Heck, it doesn't matter if it is the original color, do it right!

I like the olive green and white that's my favorite color, I don't think it will hurt the value if you go with a differant color if you do it right, and original value only means something on a 30,000 dollar truck, just my 2 cents

I had my '71 painted I chose a code 72-Apple Red and code 37-Lt.Mesa Brwown (Wheat) . Also, I had the top section of the cab painted the same red body color. For insurance purposes, I took the truck to a qualified appraiser and when he came out of his office and looked at the truck (from about 75 ft. distance); he said " You ruined that truck!".....I inquired why he had said that and he replied that the red and 'cream ' color combination was not a stock color for that year year of pickup!. When he had walked around the truck ; he also noticed I had applied GMC letters to the tailgate center....He then remarked that because of the wrong color of paint and top of cab was not painted with the center color; he was deducting $1000.00 from the appraisal !!!!

you seem to be concerned with the resale, if so, go with the original olive, which IMO is a pretty cool paint scheme, otherwise if you plan on keeping it forever paint it the sherwood
green...

...then use that white pearl to put some flames on it! o_O

[off topic] speaking of flames, does anyone here have a pic of their truck with flames on it? just curious about the outcome.

Thanks guys for the kind words. The color is a little darker than the factory olive green . I had the truck painted almost 9 years ago and picked this color over the factory green and I cant remember the paint code, it's just a few shades darker..Here is one more pic for you guys.......

Thanks,
JOHN

My truck is dark olive (irid). I like green. Nothing makes
chrome look better than red or black.

Well after much thought and deliberation of such a heavy topic which could adversly effect the truck industry...Just kidding ,
The color I like best is blue but my 70cst is two tone Green which is a color I have always hated ,...but you know something...that green starts to grow on you so when I do paint my truck I am going to stay with the factory two tone green ...
Look at it this way...If you stay with your original colors you will have all other truckers "GREEN WITH ENVY" of such a beautiful truck:p
Regards,
70cst
