Disc brakes on 3/4 ton

None of the disc brake kits say they'll fit a 3/4 ton. I don't understand why. I haven't taken a look at the brackets and axle up close, but could the kit from CPP be machined to fit?

The problem I had with the spindles, I tried to put on the 3/4,was the pins were smaller for the spindles on the 3/4 straight axle,which is original. Fortunately I had a 1/2 ton straight axle that came with the parts for the disc brake conversion. If that is the situation you are in,you need the 1/2 ton straight axle to take care of that. I don't know what kind of kit you would be dealing with?

I am in the process of putting disc on the front of my 1951 3800 chevy pickup. The bracket question is my only hold up. The rotors and calipers are standard C 20-( 3/4 ton items like on the front of the 4 wheel drives - ) if I knew that the universal speedway , CPP ,etc- brackets for the 1/2 ton would work it will be simple.Drill, grind the rivets of the hubs and throw the drums away- slide the rotors on the studs and go .A buddy of mine had to use the steering arms from his 3/4 to clear the new dropped axle ( 1/2 ton axle ) that he installed . That means that at least the bottom 2 holes ( backing plate ) where the bracket would be mounted have to be the same .Anyone got a measurement of the verticle distance on the backing plate holes to compare between the 1/2 and 3/4 /1 ton spindles???I have also noticed that in some of the kits they require a thin spacer ( those that use a single piece bracket , and some don't - theirs are steped and 2 pieces welded???Any and all input will be very helpful -

I don't know about your measurements you need on the backing plates,but I used all of the control arms on the 3/4ton to be able to use the straight axle of the 1/2 ton. Good Luck in your build.

Thanks . That alone at least tells me that I can read a tape measure and I am not blind - I was starting to wander about that - thanks again
