Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

A guy at church ask me today if I knew anyone interested in a 1986 Silverado that he bought new. It has been garaged about all of it's life and it shows. I went to look at it today and would love to have it. It's not in the budget. It's all original even the paint. The only things that is wrong is it needs a new fuel tank (it has dual tanks), carb cleaned out, headliner is falling down, windshield is cracked. Never been wrecked, 179K, engine rebuilt about 12K miles ago. Bottom dollar is 4500

What would ya'll do? I don't want a rare find like this to go to someone that won't appreciate it. It's not listed yet and he is in no hurry to sell.

Nice truck. Too bad it's a 86. Too much smog crap on it. Unless that's not a problem in your area.

Re: Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

Thanks for the input, of coarse I knew what your answers would be. It's better for the misses to here it from others. We are discussing it. I would like to hear it run. I believe everything this guy says. I worked on his S10 the other day and it was spotless. He is very meticulous with his vehicles. He says it won't idle unless you keep it above idle a little. Just want to here it run and possibly drive it. I feel if I bought it without hearing it run I couldn't go wrong. It's that nice.

This is the last year for it needing emissions. Here in GA once it is 25 years old it is excempt.

Re: Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

If it's a carb it may be as simple as replacing the internal fuel filter.

That's a great looking truck for $4,500, no way you can go wrong on that one.

Love the looks of that truck.

Wish I would have seen this since I just got back from Northern GA.

It's carburated. He pulled the filter earlier and he said it was pretty cruddy. He replaced it. A little while later he opened the 4 barrels and that is when it sucked up some trash.

305. That is all the pics I have of it right now. I only had my cell phone and we didn't have time to roll it out. They had to go meet some family.

Re: Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

If it is what you want I would buy it. That said I passed on a similarly clean truck for 4.8k simply because I couldn't see pulling the stock 305 out of a super clean all original truck and I also knew I couldn't leave it alone if I owned it.

Some things are best left original and this is one of them. Do you know David "4dranch" up there in Millington? He bought my 64 Buick from me. That was another one that needs to stay original.

Re: Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

I bought a brand new truck in 1986 that looked just like that one.
It was completely loaded.
Sticker price was around $14k.

I think it's a buy at $4500.

Clean looking truck, nice find. Last time I was up around Blairesville there were mint square bodies everywhere but none were for sale.

Very nice. $4,500 is not bad since it needs so little.

Nope, I haven't seen your 64 Buick running around. Nice looking car though.

Re: Rare find 1986 Silverado 4X2

That truck is beautiful, my pops has one like that. Only it is a GMC Sierra Classic. That color is one of a kind. Brings a tear to my eye. I learned to drive in it, such fond memories. If you can do me a favor and get the color code, I would like to repaint it the same color as the factory or close to it. Thanks
