1969 Outer Grill?
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com lists a grill for a 69 truck with this part number 3985054. Is this grill an exact reproduction of the original grill? I can't find a picture of it.

$800+ selling for $500, based on those prices I would expect OOS. If they are not don't buy them, they are way over price for Repo's. You can find Repo grills for around $320 all day long.

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
Do those repros fit well and are stamped? My grill has one dent, and two holes from lights a previous owner put on it. The local trim guy wants a minimum of 500 to restore the original grill, but his work is top notch. If I can get a NOS GM or nice repro grill for that price or less, then that is the way to go.

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
IF they really do have them and they are true GM that's a deal...they've been selling for 750-800 on ebay...that is the correct part number for GM...
I purchased one for 500 new in the box and it had issues with the black paint being very messy...asked around on here and they confirmed that it's simply a GM licensed and packaged part that has been manufactured recently that are still for sale. Quality is hit or miss. I have seen one that was perfect and then the other one...

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
Are they an "exact" replacement for the original grilles? ...... NO.
Could they be a GM Replacement grille? ...... Yes. Are they a non-GM replacement grille? ...... Would have to contact them directly. To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever repoped the "original" grille that was available on the '69 and '70 trucks. The determining factors will come down to the lines that extend horizontally across the center bar of the truck. The original grilles extend from the turn signals to the headlight bezels. The GM replacements and the repops only extend barely past the turn signals and do not reach the headlight bezels. I believe I have even seen a third type of design, but it has escaped me at this time. An "exact" replacement grille was never reproduced.

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
None of the non-GM licensed repop grilles have the Chevrolet lettering on the center bar that I am aware of.

I need to look when I get home if I am still working with the original grill. I have a small dent I was going to have removed before I strip and polich the grill but if its a re pop there is no way I am wasting the time.

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
the price of the repops have really went up in the last few years. like mentioned above nothing is like an original.... but it is almost impossible to find a "perfect" one.

Re: 1969 Outer Grill?
It blows my mind how much some of these repop parts are!! I would guess it would be due to the cost of aluminum going up, but shoot that's a pricey grille!
