A few Questions about a 61 Apache
I'm looking at buying a 1961 Chevy Apache. It's a long bed, stepside, with later rally's on it. The tires on this truck are mismatched, I was curious what size tires fit on them best with the factory stance. Also, are there any particular things to watch out for on these trucks? This one has already had an Engine and Trans swap to a small block chevy with a Turbo 350 Automatic into it.

Re: A few Questions about a 61 Apache
Are you planning on leaving the 6 lugs or converting it to 5? I had 7 in. wide with no problems but don't know what size tires would be best. With the torsion bars you can lower the front a little to give it a better stance. I put Early classic 2 1/2 in dropped spindles on mine also put a 72 rearend under to give me 5 lugs. The rear end is 1 in. wider on both sides. Good Luck
P.S.We like pics too. Ben |

Re: A few Questions about a 61 Apache
I haven't bought it yet, but I'm going to decide over the next couple days if I'm going to get it for sure or not. I'm leaning towards getting it as long as there's nothing major wrong with it when I get under it. Right now I'm going to probably keep the 6 lugs on it and put an extra set of 225-70-R15s I have on a set of 85 6 lug rallys on the truck. Ultimately if I get it I would like to do a 10 foot truck. Something that looks pretty close to what it is supposed to be like but not absolutely correct. Thanks for the links also.
