Crate Motor Suggestions

Hi everyone---thanks for having me! I recently purchased a '72 C10 and after chasing down an oil leak I discovered the PLASTIC timing gear was shredding and that my "freshly rebuilt" 350 wasn't so fresh. I've been looking at the GM 350 290HP from Jegs. I also drooled a little over 400/400 from Year One, but I don't know if my wallet can suffer a 3k dent at the moment, although I'd like a built motor (at least a good start towards one). Any advice wold be greatly appreciated---here's what I plan to reuse:

-Quadrajet
-Intake
-MSD Ignition
-Headers

Thanks in advance!

Oh, and my 200-4R needs a rebuild as well...

Re: Crate Motor Suggestions

Why not buy a stock motor from the dealership and add the parts you want to it? If im not mistaking you can buy them with the short block completely done and can add what you want to the top of the motor.
