Weird Starting

So my 71 with the 350 and the stock qjet is acting up on starting and has done this the entire time ive owned it i just haven't done anything about it yet except a carb rebuild. My issue is it cranks over well or what seems like normal to me and cranks and cranks for a loooong time without starting or doing any little hicups or anything. but if i let is sit for like 15 minutes it usually starts right up with a little bit of rough idle right at start up but not enough to kill it. I think the gas is draining out of the carb? how can i potentially fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Weird Starting

Got any pics of your carb? Is your choke working? Could be the float bowl wells are leaking if it's draining. Common problem on quads. Fixable though. Here's a link.

Re: Weird Starting

I haven't gotten around to fixing mine yet (2 or 3 years) but I figured out the issue. I pump the pedal 10 times, turn the key, and it fires right up no problem. seven isn't enough, and 15 is too many. when it has been started that day, if its warm, 2 pumps, if its cold, five, but that first one in the morning it 10. its pretty funny.
