69 Dually, what wheels/lugnuts

I have a 69 Dually truck. I found 6 16" dually rims that are the same. They have the smaller 4 9/16" center and "rounded" centers, if you know what i mean. Are these the right thing? Also i put new wheel studs in the front as they were stripped out. It looked like the factory "castle" lugnuts were rough on the studs. When i got the truck it had 2 mismatched lugnuts on each wheel, so i will need new ones. What lugnuts do i need for front and rear? It looks like on the front, the center of the wheel does the centering. But, it looks different on the rear. the wheels that were on the rear had some type of collar in the holes. I guess the lugnuts center the wheel on the rear? what centers the inside rear?

If your rearend is anything like mine 16's wont fit over the brake drum on the rear.16.5 just fit over them.They look like chevy wheels

it had 16's on the rear. Do you have dual rear wheel cylinders? yours may be the 11,000 lbs rear. i have the standard one.

i test fitted them and they seem to fit fine. I tried a "straight" center 16" rim (dodge type i think) and that didn't clear. that might be what tanman had? I saw that the inside rear is centered on the center hub. is the outside rear the same way. I seems like it barely catches. i need new lugnuts. anyone know where i can get them at a good price? they are $2 each at parts store.

Hi,and welcome to the site.I'm not too far from you.Looks like a decent C/30.The rear is the corporate rear.In 1 tons they were HO72s and in 3/4 tons they were hO52s.The differentials are the same and on C/30 pickups the axles are,too.Since your's is a cab & chassis only the diff/housing is the same.the brakes and bearings are larger on the HO72s.I don't know a cheap source for the studs.1970 was the last year for those.When disc brakes were introduced in '71 the studs grew to 9/16s and stayed that way (till 14mm).I guess your truck had the 16" split rims originally?I think by '69 the 16.5s were an option.I had a '70 that I cut bezels into the wheels and used chamfered lugs.But,I ran it for a few years with chrome acorn nuts in place or the castle nuts.I wanted to bore slightly undersized holes in the drums to press 9/16 studs in,but was advised it would be hard to keep them centered.I took the advise but still don't see why not.

Yes, only the inside wheel is centered on the hub.

I still can't find the correct lugnut for the 1/2-20 studs. Any lugnuts at the parts stores take a 3/4" socket. I need something with a large socket size to accommodate the large holes in the wheels. The best i can find is a grade 2 "heavy" nut which takes a 7/8" socket. Any ideas??

I stubbled on some old lug nuts from my '70 not too long ago.If I can recall where or come across them again,I'll let you know.
