headlight and taillight q's

Trying to figure out what needs replacing with my headlight and taillight issues.

I have highbeams all day but when I switch to lows the headlights go out. Any ideas?

Also, my drivers taillight has brake lights and has blinker, but does stay on running

Re: headlight and taillight q's

your headlight issue is usually the dimmer switch, try giving it a good solid rap with the handle of a screwdriver sometimes that will work as a very temporary fix,but it is best to replace it because any autoparts store has them cheap

i dont understand what youre trying to say about the taillights

On the headlights, I agree, check the dimmer switch. On the tail lights, they are a two element light one for brake and turn, and one for just "on". Also check and clean the grounds. The tail light housing are grounded through the mounting bolt, and there should be a ground strap from the frame to the bed in the back.

Sorry I was typing on my phone meant to say the tailight won't stay on in the running position, just works with the brakes and blinker. It should stay on when you turn the lights on, but it doesn't.

Re: headlight and taillight q's

Does your truck have single 7" bulbs or the smaller dual bulbs in the front?
Is it possible that the bulbs have burned out on the low beam filiment? Same question for the tail lights. Quickest way to check them is to get a test light or multimeter and check the headlight at the connector plug and the rear socket after removing the bulb.
If no power at rhe headlight plug then check dimmer switch.
