paid 500 for it as a roller

reason im askin everyone around here is saying i got rip off but i dont think i did

no one around here appreciates older 4x4 trucks

heres some info on the truck

no engine/trans/or transfer case

the only rust is on the rockers and loer door skins other then that it completely solid.

its completely gutted topper is in good shape

it has a 3in body lift with a 4in suspension lift

missing the rear inner fenders

its also came wih another set of 3/4 ton axles 8 lug

Otherwise complete?
Front end in good shape too?
Rad core support looks good? Front fenders?

"IF" the tub is in the condition you describe, you got a great deal.

These tubs when rust free can turn high dollar.
Fix the rockers (correctly) and you could easily 4x's your $$.

What are your plans for it?
Are there other parts trucks you have to gleen parts from to build the blazer?

Re: question for you guys was this a good deal?

When you first said that "no one around here appreciates older 4x4 trucks" I thought you meant people on the Board? Um, OK, I'm slow. you meant people around Rock Island il. I get it now.
As for If you have a good deal or not is in the eyes of the beholder. I find people that are not mechanically inclined, people that don't or can't work or build their own rigs, or people that don't appreciate classic cars will always see what you have as a bad deal. In my opinion, Classics are like gold. They will always appreciate and they in some ways are an extension of the owners themselves. In the respect that classics over any other rigs are modified and created out of the imagination of the owners themselves. Even a classic that is restored down to the correct orange peel on the paint job says allot about it's owner.
IF you plan on doing the work yourself. And the body is as good as what you say it is. Then absolutely you got a good deal. When I go to buy an older rig I don't even care if it runs or not. A great drive train and a rust gutted body is the worst possible situation you could be in at any price. What you have is a clean slate to build up the way you want it. Drivelines, engines, and transmissions will all get blown up at some point. But if you fix the rust right and hopefully not wrap it around a tree when you drop in a full roller centrifugal supercharged 502, 3,500 rpm stall stage 3 th400, Atlas transfer case and Dana 60's with some crazy deep gears to compliment your 37's. You will have a Classic for a life time.

BTW Sorry for the long stupid response. I'm at work and I'm a little bored. seriously, you can find a wrecked or rolled truck (of almost any year) for nothing. Marry the two together and make a nice ride for cheep.

Re: question for you guys was this a good deal?

yeah cant wait to put the motor and tranny in.

question for you guys i have a gmc sierra dually which im using for the motor tranny and transfer case.

i was thinking about putting the dually rear end in the blazer thouaght it might look cool i know tires are going to cost more lol.

so anyone like the idea of a 4x4 dually blazer.

and yeah torrey im going to be doing most of the work my self and my dads friend.hes a mechanic, and i do body work.

so this will be a good learning point.

and like you said about older cars i appreciate classics no mater what heres some pics of my other project its a 1962 cadillac coupe deville with a gm 390 and hydro trans.

Re: question for you guys was this a good deal?

yeah the caddy cam from iowa and i think there 72 plate last time they been registered.

cool story behind that car.

kinda one owner car lol...

well i boaght the car from the orginal owner.which he bouaght new back in 61.

then he sold the car in 72 which the guy he sold it to ran it as a drug car.running cocaine to iowa to cali and back.which made this car hit 220,000 miles pretty fast.well the got get arrested on drug and weapon charges and abanded the car somewhere and when the police foound it was still registerd from the org. owner.which the police gave the car back to him.

so the car had a blown seal so he kept it in his yard from 76 to 2008 which led to the iowa rust...

so when i got which i thouaght this was cool theres a button under the dash.when you hit it the a door that pops up in the rear floor were the kept the drugs.and uder the passenger seat theres a sliding door that goes straight to the ground so incase there getting pulled over they can dump the drugs.

pretty cool story i thouaght.

blazer pics coming this weekend i dont have my camera...

I don't find your response stupid! I love how you think!!

Don't forget the ARBs for traction and Willwood brakes to stop it.
