Bed Boxes anyone? ideas?

One thing that I hardly ever see for our 50's era trucks are bed boxes. I know most of the trucks are built for hauling ass but I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on sleek looking boxes to put in our trucks that dont simply look like a refrigerator.

I found this one on classic trucks, very cool

Re: Bed Boxes anyone? ideas?

I've been wondering the same thing. I plan on mine being a daily driver and I'll need storage so I am interested what the forum comes up with.

Re: Bed Boxes anyone? ideas?

We are looking for some different "Boxes" or total beds for the 53 extended cab, the demensions will be the same as the stock short narrow box.

I have seen the 88 to 97 boxes with the stock 53 fenders "glued" on, bit does anybody have any other ideas????

We are about to the next stage of this build and open to suggestions

I've seen the old metal Coke and Pepsi coolers used for everything from gas tanks to housing air ride components. Most guys probably don't use anything because they like to show off their WOOD!

Mine isn't nearly as slick as the one above, but it works for me. It's definitely more secure than putting things behind the seat and then losing them out the cab corners...

I've started tearing the truck down for bodywork and paint and it'll be color matched by next summer.

Hmmmm the old 50's ice chest just got my head spinning. That might be a good route especially if I do the patina paint job.
And yea, I can't afford a nice wood bed so I'll be ok in that sense lol.

Re: Bed Boxes anyone? ideas?

I've got an almost too big tool box on my 71 that serves as much as a locking trunk as a tool box. Emptied out it will hold my laptop bag and two suit cases for a weekend trip and keep them safe and dry.

On the 48 I intend to build a wood box that matches the wood in the bed but will house the battery and have room on the other side for the tools I carry with me. latches will be ss boat pieces that have a ring for padlocks.
