I was given a free 69 stepside!
Aloha
Last night my wife and I went to Wally world, basically the only place to shop here in Hilo Hawaii, we came rumbling in and one of the workers says nice truck what is it a 70? I said 72, and she says too bad I have a 69 for parts you can have and I said for FREE??? and she says yes you just have to tow it out, she says it has good glass hood and was running good when she parked it last year, lots of rust though but I am thinking straight six and 3 speed, rear end, hood and glass could get a couple of hundred out of it and rebuild the 6 and put it in my daily driver and let the hopped up 350 rest. But one hitch... she says there is something wrong with the registration. I am waiting to talk to her tonight. When I get to her place tomorrow I will take pic's if it is worth the tow. Any ideas or suggestions????? Aloha Marty |

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Thats what happend with me, my father sold his 71 to a friend and he passed away and his brother told me i can take what i want off of them(there is a 70 GMC out there too). I grabbed a rear end, brake booster, rims, and now i want to go back to grab the hood and one set front fenders and basically everything else i can think off and see its funny how things go.

If you part it out, I got dibs on the heater-delete if it has one! Can't beat free ever, unless it's an STD.

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
It belongs to her big Samoan boyfriend who she's pissed at. She's giving it away for free while he's gone. Good luck with the registration problem.Hope he doesn't show up while your towing it away. Free isn't always good. LOL. I miss Hawaii.

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
The thing about giveaway vehicles without paperwork is there is always the chance someone may show up claiming ownership and where does that put you? In possession of possible stolen property. Be careful.

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
I agree with you boog, She states that the reg says 70 but it is indeed a 69, she drove it until she got her cj7 last year. I will get the dmv to check out the paperwork before it gets removed from her property. We work opposite parts of the day, I'm working and she is home and vice versa. Maybe this weekend.

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
There was a story on the internet a while back, A couple got their classic hotrod back after like 20 years after it was stolen. It had been fixed up real nice too when they got it back.

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Why does everyone think he's stealing the truck? If the lady gives it to him with a title, it's his fair and square. Keep us posted (no pun intended) on and news!

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Aloha
Her and I are off on Sunday when I will get pic's and further info on the title, my 72 I bought from a DEALER sold it to me as a 71 VIN says different but no problems as I have the pink on it, I am in the process of changing it as we speak. Here in Hawaii if there is a title and it is signed off to the purchaser it is legaly the purcahser's. Aloha Marty |

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
I don't think they think he's stealing it but probably being given a truck from someone that does not own it..

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Aloha Guys
It is not stolen she owns it the vin number says it is a 69 but the registration says it is a 70. She needs to get it off her property and hates to see it rotting away. My wife is in a real hurt with her back injury and I havent been able to go see it yet, as with every other vehicle parked here it will be there when I want to pick it up. Plus I need to find a place to put it! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions Aloha Marty |

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Hope your wife feels better soon, old trucks are fine with sitting a few extra days... Wives aren't cool with being put on the back burner!
Anxious to see what a free truck looks like! Pics when you can - Mahalo

Re: I was given a free 69 stepside!
Just have a bill of sale (even if it's free) I (lady's name) give this truck (description and vin) to so and so (you) this date and for this price, signed by both parties.
