8.2L diesel?
Alright....I came across a Detroit 8.2 v8 TurboDiesel....would this work in a 1/2 ton '67? I know it'd be a bit much but hey...

Seems like its got pretty low hp and torque #s for the engine size and there are some things to watch out for.

There was just a post a few days ago where they were talking weights of big blocks vs. cummins. IIRC, the 5.9 cummins was pretty close in weight to the DD. Not sure if it'd fit because that 8.2L is meant for 30'+ boats, school busses, and medium duty trucks. I think you'd have a hard time finding a transmission to fit behind it as well. As stated above as well, from what I hear it is heavy, really smoggy, underpowered, and unreliable.
you'd be better off with a 12-valve cummins or a 6.5 Detroit TD out of a 90's pickup...just my two cents.

I have worked in the trucking industry for 22 yrs in parts. 8.2 L Run run far away unless you want a bot anchor.

you sure it's not a 6.2L diesel? I just put a 6.2L GM (Detroit) diesel in my '71 4x4 Burb. It fits real damn good....so far!
