wheel and tire suggestions please!! 1980
OOPS.. originally posted in wrong section!!!!!
I am looking for wheel and tire size suggestions for my 80 SWB... I love the look of the stock wheels... but they dont seem wide enough to fill the fender wells, especially in the back.... I have seen stock wheels that seem to, but maybe it is just an illusion because of wider tires??? OR... are they running spacers??? or???? I also love the old "centerline" brushed alluminum wheels with no holes and rivets around the edge.... if I go with these, I'd like 'em a little wider than stock... Basically I want the look that was popular in 1980's... (more "personalized" than "customized") This was my Dad's old truck and I still want him to enjoy it too! Oh.... and I am dropping the truck only 2inches in the back for a "stock-ish, but level" stance! Any suggestion on tire and wheel sizes is appreciated!!! (with pics, even better!) Thanks in advance!

If it was me, I would lower it a little more, and run the rally wheels you have now. Lower it 3/5 or 4/6.

Id say some rallys, like even corvette rallys. Friend of mine did a 3/5 on his and put some spacers on his rears to make them stick out a touch more. I want to say like 3/4" spacers was all. It looks soooo much better, they rear dont look all sucked it. Hes just running stock rallys.

This is just a clean look. Exactly what I was talking about. There are a few pics of my '79 scattered around here, and in my photo album of my '79 and current '74. Both are lowered on rally wheels. I found one here of my '79. this is 4/6 drop, with 15x6.5 rallys (from a van) on the front, 15x8 on the rear.

Re: wheel and tire suggestions please!! 1980
Hello,
On the stock wheel I have ran 25570R15 on all 4 corners and this will do a nice job on filling the fenders with a rear shackle drop. If you decide to drop the truck all the way around then the fitment will be different. 25570R15 Specs: O.D. 28.9" Section Width: 10" If you are interested I have a set of original Chevy Aluminum wheels off a 87. No damage and just need polishing... $300.00 with no center caps.

I have 255/70/15 all the way around on 8" wheels. Lowered 2.5/4.

I run stock 8's with 275/50/15's all around on a 5/7 drop. I have put corvette rallyes on with 275/50's front and 295/50's on rear with 10" wheels. They all look good to me.
