Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
I don't know if this is possible but when my father-in-law got his 4x4 stuck in mud and the other truck we had started to get stuck pulling it out, we jacked up each tire individually (put the jack on a wide board) then stuck boards under the tires and then just drove it out with a little towing pressure from the other truck... Took FOREVER but we got it out

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
first is to get it unstuck, THEN drag it out.
it sounds like you need to use a winch or come-along to get him unstuck, then have another 4x4 tow him out. |

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
Are there any farmers in the area with decent sized tractors that may be swayed by some $ to come pull, if they can get to it? I know in high school a couple of guys who paid a farmer several times to come pull them out because their buddies 4x4s couldn't. lol

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
Trinity river bottom,.... you better hope it dont start flooding! Sounds like you gonna need a couple 12-16000lb winches. Or a dozer or big 4x4 tractor. I learned at young age to stay out the trinity bottom unless we were fully prepped with winches, snatch blocks, straps, lots of beer and food. Good luck

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
And use straps instead of chains! They'll help to snatch you out with a pull and they won't be a weapon when you snap it!
Good Luck

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
How far is the truck from a place a hefty wrecker or rollback can get in? They have atleast 100ft of cable on them. The big ones have upwards of 150-250ft of cable. $150-$300 can get him out.

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
I've also learned through getting many a dozer stuck that if you can feed an air hose under the truck (ours are industrial trailer mount compressors) it can help release that suction that keeps it in place. An option if you have the tools.

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
I'd try to break the suction before you use the heavy equipment extraction. Be safe, have fun, and take pictures!

Re: Q: stuck 4x4 in creek bottom
I've got a buddy that owns a 28ton crane. If he could get close he could lift the whole truck out and place it wherever you want it. It wouldn't be cheap, and he wouldn't risk getting his crane a mudded up or stuck. Beyond that, I'm at a loss.
