When installing/mounting a stock radio, where does the rear bracket attach to the under dash? any pics?

Re: stock radio install/mounted

I belive there are some indents where each screw gowes in the fire wall behind and just above the stock radio. My truck never came with a radio and it has the indents for the screws, my truck is a 1968 model.

Re: stock radio install/mounted

Thanks, I'm taking the "hacked" dash front out today sometime and will look before I reinstall the new front.

Re: stock radio install/mounted

the radio has a bracket on the back that a metal strap runs up and down off of. The metal strap connects to the back of the radio then runs up to the speaker where it attaches to the speaker bracket. The speaker bracket hooks up to the firewall. The radio doesn't screw into the firewall. It is held in the dash by the cups under the knobs then gets further support from the metal strap that hooks up to the speaker. There was a thread about a month ago that showed the setup I'll see if I can find it. I recently hooked an original am radio up in mine and had to search everywhere to get the right brackets and cups under the knobs. Once I got all the right stuff (ebay, parts board) the radio hooked up solid. No vibration at all.
