Hey that 465, figure 8 adaptor, and 205 look just like mine...except mine are hinding under about an inch deep of gunk.

Did you just clean the heck out of them and paint them or did you rebuild too?

Thanks everyone, it's been a week long process to remove the old junk, clean all the parts to be reused (like the crossmember etc.) and get the new setup installed to this point. TX_MUDDER, I hear what you are saying about the gunk, my old setup was such a mess to pull out. I didn't actually rebuild both pieces. I did take them apart to look over everything and make sure it was all kosher. I then painted it up to make it look decent and installed new gaskets and bolts. The guy I bought the setup from recently pulled it out of his personal truck and it according to him, everything worked fine. There were no leaks and everything moved freely so I didn't see the need to replace bearings or seals. After tearing these down to look them over, I feel confident that they have many years of use left in them (I hope I'm right).

Here's a pic if the messy trans that came out of the truck, the t-case didn't look any better. Obviously, it's the dirty one sitting on the floor behind the new one.

Is the paint the plasticote Cast-Grey color?

The grey paint I used on the transfer and tranny case is made by Rustoleum. I think it's called "Hammerlite" or Hammermill" grey. I don't have the can here at my house (I'm doing the work in my dads garage) so I'm not sure what it's called. It kinda gives that same powder-coated look that is on ljbear's setup. Not nearly as nice though.

That turned out great. That combo had a familiar look and that paint really is close to mine. How did the holes and threads turn out on for the torque mount? How hard to drill and tap was it?

Larry (ljbear), drilling and tapping the transfer case was a new experience for me. I used a smaller bit first, then a good quality bit ( $18 ) to drill the final size. I used lots of cutting oil and took it really slow. Tapping it went fairly quick. Instead of drilling 1 1/2" deep, I only went 1 1/4" deep. Call me gun shy but I didn't want to break through the case. I'll just use an extra washer to help make up the difference in depth. When I get the torque mount brackets attached to the frame, I'll take a pic to show you how it turned out. Thanks again for your help in this area.........

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
