what did you get done 12/12/10 snowflake edition
Wife and I have been kicking the idea around of doing a different project truck and using our current truck as strictly a parts truck, other than that nothin else truck related
How about you all??

Replaced the brakes, pads & rotors, on the wife's van.
Scored a smokin' deal on some parts for my '50 project: New aluminum 15 gallon fuel cell New Viair 444 compressor New Flex-a-lite Mojave heater New Firestone 2600 lb airbags (2) New front bag cups Passed on a S-10 chassis, still looking. Made further progress replacing the floor and rockers on the '50.

Re: what did you get done 12/12/10 snowflake edition
heres pics of the work i did on my dash . bought new dash pad with just popped in .the old one was badly cracked and i got a good deal at a swap meet. i got new clear plastic for the gauges as the old one was scratched , dirty and faded .cleaned the black gauges which had got a ton of dust on them over the years . then painted the backing the gauge lights shine on to to make them brighter which worked out really good . scuffed up my instrument cluster and sprayed it black . then put a new aluminum trim on the front . looks way better now

Looks great there, hitcher.
After 3 months of wrenching on my homeowner's-association-neighborhood driveway, I turned the engine on! I'm super excited to begin the next phase of the build-up. I also pulled the spliced-up firewall-to-taillamp harness to begin to rebuild it.

Re: what did you get done 12/12/10 snowflake edition
Went to work for 6 hours. Changed the thermostat in the truck while on lunch break. Left at 1:30 and counted 9 idiots in the ditch or median when I drove north to hunt. Shot a doe at the end of legal shoot, didnt hit her hard enough to knock her down. Tracked her for an hour in the dark with a flashlight and never found her after she ran into three more deer. Maybe next time! Then drove home in a freakin blizzard with a bunch more idiots that were trying to slide into the ditch. Made home in my one-legged two wheel drive dually without a scratch, it was a good day!

It has been about a Month Since I worked on the 87 GMC project so today I blasted some pulleys and brackets then prepped them for painting and painted them with gloss black engine paint which covered real good. It helps to have a small paint/weld booth in the shop.

Re: what did you get done 12/12/10 snowflake edition
Made a list of items on my 78 that need some attention like the carb power steering hoses and intake gasket. I think that means I need a new intake and carb right? Like a performer intake and a new edlebrock. At least thats what I'm trying to convince the wife. Also found my tinging noise when I turn right turns out it was in my door...damn didn't I feel dumb. We were also notified the house nextdoor is ready to buy so we can get it torn down and I can expand my garage.

Found an 87' burb on CL to buy. Took my truck from high school that has not run in ten years to a really good mechanic. Moved some furniture for mom. Found out what a loose flywheel sounds like.

Cut a ring off both of my front coils to level her out finally, did a tune-up, and put some new shoes on her. Here is a before and after.

Re: what did you get done 12/12/10 snowflake edition
Swapped a 305 long block I'm never going to use for a Saginaw 3-speed that I might use some day.
Washed the great room walls and started patching. Had to replace a strip of drywall under the tripe wide front window as PO left a big gap, and had water damage. Could actually see daylight with the trim off. Went to foam it, foam can wouldn't shoot, so cut the drywall and will work on it this week. Assuming, of course, the driveway gets plowed so I can get out to the road....
