Door glass install question
In the channel in which the door window sits there is a piece of rubber which is inserted into the channel upon which the glass sits. (They're not in the pic because I can't find them, but they'll turn up...)
How is the glass secured, a little glue or contact cement? It's something I've never come across in all the years on this board.

Re: Door glass install question
I used the 3M glass adhesive...a little in the channel and then a bead along both edges after I hammered the glass in the channel...
They also make a special tape that pro glass guys use... You can find more info. on this board by searching "door glass sash" RM

Re: Door glass install question
I had to place a piece of glass in a channel once. I had the rubber piece, glass, and channel all ready to go but was afraid to put them together.
My dad happened to stop by and I asked him about it. He worked at the St. Paul Ford assembly plant for 42 years so I figured he would know how to put them together. He smiled and asked if I had a small 12-14 inch piece of 2x4. I handed him the board. He already had the glass, rubber, and channel. He walked out into the middle of the lawn, set the window down on edge in the grass, placed the rubber over the glass, and the channel over the rubber. Then he proceeded to whack the sh!+ out of the bottom of the channel with the hunk of 2x4. That was over 8 years ago and is still riding around in the door just fine. No glue, no special tape, just the channel, rubber, and glass.
