question on radiator support panel on 1956
Need some help on my radiator support panel bolts. Can some one tell me how it gets bolted to the frame? Does a rubber washer go in the big hole and then the bolt?

Re: question on radiator support panel on 1956
The factory assembly manual shows the following sequence:
Bolt (goes thru stuff below to cage nut in frame bracket) Lockwasher Metal shim "Cushion" Radiator Flange "Cushion" Metal Shim Frame bracket with cage nut on bottom. There is a round metal spacer with inside diameter equal to the bolt and outside to fit thru shims, cushions and flange. When you tighten the bolt, the spacer keeps the radiator floating without the shims and cushions crushed, not pulled tight against the frame. The shim thickness helps determine the hood to cab alignment. I'll scann the picture tomorrow and post.

Re: question on radiator support panel on 1956
Here is the detail from the factory assembly manual. I got my bolt and shims (washers) from local Ace hardware store. for the round sleeve I am using tube stock I got at big box home store, cut to length with a pipe cutter. I am raising my support to match the amount I raised my cab (1/2") so I am using hard rubber in 1/2" thickness and sheet rubber I've had laying around. I think the original cushions are a fabric/rubber "sandwich". Look at the older restore guys like Jim Carter, they should have them. Some one with a stock truck hopefull will chime in with a stock thickness. I'd guess its around 1/8".
