Raising truck in front
LMC states that original ride height is approximately 2" higher in the rear. Alot of folks lower the front and rear with nice results. Just throwing this out there - has anyone of yall raised the front to level the truck out and put some beefy tires on. I would love to see some pics if you got em handy. This just came to me in sleep last night.

Re: Raising truck in front
Got a link? Didnt know they made raised spindles..lol
Maybe a combo? How would you lift the rear of a 2wd truck with coil springs? Maybe wrangler lift springs?

Re: Raising truck in front
Idea is to leave the rear as is (stock height) raise the front 2" to level truck out. Give it just a little more robust look. Think i might try it. I'll keep looking for a link.

Re: Raising truck in front
This is something I am also interested in. I really like the look of a level truck and I would rather lift the front than lower the rear.

Re: Raising truck in front
I am doing that right now....well when I buy the part...since LMC doesn't sell 1 ton parts you get the HD front coils that say "with 454"....don't know if that will raise it 2" but since I have a small small block I'm hoping it will..

Re: Raising truck in front
Thought of purchasing 3" raised spindle from 4 wheel parts source, then fabricate or try to find a 1" spacer for the rear coils. That ought to look tough with some decent tires. Hmmm the gears are turning in my head now.

Re: Raising truck in front
if you have a sbc, you can install 1 ton springs. This will level out the truck, however with the stock bump stops, it will top out the suspension. I removed the stock bump stops and installed the thinnest ones i could get. I also installed a set of ball joint spacers to minimize the stress on the upper ball joint. I also installed a set of limiting straps so if I ever did get the front end off of the ground, it would minimize the stress on the ball joints. The only thing I should do is replace the front brake lines with longer ones.
I also have a 3 inch body lift installed and have been running this setup for 15 years.

Re: Raising truck in front
Pooz911 now thats a good lookin' truck. Got more pics? I've often heard 4 wheel drivers bash guys that do that. Its not that i want to drive through swamp or anything, i just like the stance.

Re: Raising truck in front
My truck is a 3/4 ton with stock leaf springs in the back and 3/4 ton springs in the front. 3/4 and 1 ton springs are the same length. My spring shop put a 1 inch spacer in the bottom cup and it gave me a almost level ride.

Re: Raising truck in front
Obviously my truck is not the same era, but as previously mentioned the 1 ton springs will work.
BTW... driveway is sloped in the picture.

Re: Raising truck in front
Fabtech and Rancho both make 3" lift coils. You can get BB and SBC coils so it rides nice. You will need to make a 1" balljoint spacer and flip the upper ball joint to the underside of the upper controll arm. I also added a 1" spacer under the coil spring. nd limiting straps to the lower controll arm to help out the upper ball joints.

Re: Raising truck in front
wow nice truck thats the stance im looking for, do you feel 34in tyres will fit? do you have the three inch coils or the bb coils with 1in spacer? i misunderstood that part because that would make 4in with lift coils and spacer, and u list u got 3 inch lift. either way i go i'll need to build a spacer and swap the top balljoints around right? are the limiting straps what showing in second pic behind wheel looks like a red tie down? what did you use to build the ball joint spacer? thanks sorry for all the questions but been trying to find an answer for three months then you seem to answer all them and with pics in one post!!

Re: Raising truck in front
Quote:
They call it a 33 but it measures a 32.5. it's close. I have fabtech 3" 1/2 ton sbc coils. and a 1" spring spacer from a 88 up I had to cut it to fit nice in the lower spring pocket. I also moved the lower controll arm down off the crossmember 3/16 " The ball joint spacer is a chunk of 1" plate cut out to fit on top of the upper ball joint. RANCHO makes 16 " limiting straps you can see in the pitcure.

Re: Raising truck in front
ahhh i see so look for lift springs for a 1/2ton,(couldn't find any for 3/4ton) i'll go bb as i use my truck as a HD work truck.(plus im adding a winch) did u use plate steel or washer to move lower arm down? im thinking i'll use plate steel and make it part of a skid plate assembly...think i'll go with out the 1inch spacer for now as i prefer the stuffed fender look unless u feel its necessary for rubbing issues? thanks again man!
