295/65 R15 anyone running them? Will They fit on 8" ralleys?

Hey guys I'm trying to put the biggest tire possible on the rear of my ralley 15x8" wheels. I have a 2.5/4" drop.

The Tallest and widest tire I could find is the 295/65 R15 by mickey thompson.

So will if fit or will I have to cut my fenders? I'm looking for something that will fit with no modifications. thanks!

You're not going to like the way it fits on the 8" wheel. I have 275's on my 7" wheels, and you can very obviously tell that the wheel is too small for the tire. They just don't fill out all the way. But on my set of 10" wheels, the 275's look a LOT wider.

Put a 31 on the back. Little bigger than the tire listed and just a tad narrower. Should fill the wheel well nice.

So what's my alternative? I dont really want to buy a 10" ralley. They are too dang expensive....!

If you are looking to fill the wheelwells, I would look at a 255/70. It may not be as wide, but it won't look silly on an 8" wheel.

I run 295/50's in the rear of my '73 on 8" wheels. I like how it looks. Also is a pic of a local truck I snapped a shot of... 295's on 8" rallys.

man now that a ballon! i wouldnt even think about 255/70's bro, im running them on my truck in the back, with a 225/70 up front and i dont like it cus the back looks the same as the fronts to me. you have to look hard to tell they are taller imo

Balloon? Possibly. It is getting another 2" of drop to tuck them.

I doubt your little 255 would hold my 750 horsepower.

true that! id be willing to get 10's for the rear with the right backspacing if i were trying to run them. 8's might not look too bad with more drop, but with that much tire more dish looks better to me, although youre not gaining much of it. can definately tell that its on a 8", and if you have that much HP then why not go a 10"?

not meaning to jack the post or anything but....

do any of these drag radials last very long on the street? for the "cheapy" guys such as myslef that would buy a set of them used for the right price just for looks and mockup-while-driving (if there is a such thing, kinda the same as playing with the pedal lol).

i could have bought a set an CL for $200 that were about half gone, but figured they wouldnt last me long at all on a daily. Are there many choices of wide @$$ tires for the street that last?

FYI, Tread width is alway best matched to a rim of similar size---in this case 10" would be the best rim width.

I am actually suprised they even recommend a 8" rim. With all the specs they list, to me a 10-12" rim would seem to fit best---maybe its a typo they have...

I have a 275/60/15 on 8" rim, I have seen them on 10", to me they look silly. But again, I try to get the best fitting rim, and I think if you look at the specs of a 275, it says 7-9" rims. If you have seen them on a 7", they look silly IMO, i have seen them on really old 9" rims and they look good, as do the 8", but i think a true 8.5" rim would be ideal for that size tire. I guess its all in the eye of the beholder though, but i like the saying from an old ad i saw years ago, "Just because it fits, doesn't mean its right."

I have some 9" rims I found after I bought these that I will be switching to. Weld doesn't make these in a 5" lug pattern any longer, thus no 15x10. I don't want to use spacer/adapters due to the force they will see. Possibly in the future I will go 9" then I can have a better selection of rims.

Nittos will last longer on the street for sure. I've ran a few sets of mickeys on my last mustang and my friend's fairmont I built. They are an awesome tire.

I got these brand new of craigslist for 200 for both. That's less than one new one. A guy bought for his car and mounted and they wouldn't fit. Once mounted, summit will not return. Yea for me.

I bought these for height and not so much width. I will be removing a few leafs to get it lower. Either that or move up the hangar on the frame. I don't want to flip it due to dragging it. I have been really considering switching to a trailing arm set up like in the 60-72 trucks from CPP.

Something suggests if you really have 750hp, you'll have a 9" sooner than later . .....

To the OP, 295-65's are too big for 8's (regardless of physical fit). Go 10" or go 275-60's/255-70's w/a 15x8.

It'll only see ~750 when I spray it. The upgraded 12 bolt in it should last for awhile.

See i like the way that looks. If fills up the wheel well exactly like I want. Plus I bet that tire is wide as hell too!

I want my tires to be the sime height on front and back but I want the back tires to be wider.

I want the truck to have stock wheels because that is the look I'm going for.

It has 295/50/15s on my welds right now but I think the tires are way too short and it leave to much gap between the tire and the fender well.

I like how the 295/65/15 fills up the wheel well and is still reall wide like the 295/50/15s.

THAT IS THE EXACT LOOK I'M GOING FOR! EXACTLLY! See it looks stock! There is no huge gap between the fender well and the tire!



However I want the tires as wide as I can get in the back! Same height as front, just wider!
