The 87 V30 shredded the alternator belt on the way to work yesterday and thankfully didn't die till I got it into the parking lot at work. After I got off work yesterday evening I had the wife pick me up and go to the parts house for the new belt. I replaced it in the lot, but it was cold and dark, and all I wanted to do was get it home where I could pull it in the garage to do further work on it. I opted to just cut the belt off of the smog pump instead of hassling with the bolts, since I couldn't see them anyway.
My question is, can this harm anything if I drive it this way for a while (locally). Im not driving it far, it's just snowy and slick out, and I prefer the 4wd over my van in these road conditions. It's an 87 V30 5.7 tbi engine. Any comments and advice is appreciated.
