New member new 79 SWB

Hey guys,

I did the introductory post in the welcome are but wanted to share my new toy with y'all. I picked up my truck yesterday. Has been a Georgia truck it's whole life. The main points are recent repaint, all rust removed, ZZ4 engine, TH400 with reverse manual valve body. The prior owner was sorry to see it go since it originally belonged to his dad who has since passed.

Interior is a little rough and I'll be working on that asap. Also have a 4/6 drop planned and adding an overdrive. Right now just plan on driving the snot out of it and have fun before I start tearing it down for upgrades.

Pics show a dirty truck since I picked it up in the rain and have been driving it all day. Feeling like a 43 year old kid.

Yep, they are 15's all the way around. I'll probably keep them until I go to a bigger wheel.

Thats a 64 Mercury Marauder in the garage. Been in my family since 77. I'm probably going to be letting it go when it starts to warm up. Time to work on something new.

Welcome!! Great looking truck! How do you like the manual valve body in the tranny? I know you said you will be going with an overdrive but Im considering a manual valve body in my truck and was wondering your thoughts on it.

Re: New member new 79 SWB

My drive is going to be alot of interstate so the manual valve body isn't too big of deal. If I had to drive in alot of stop and go traffic it would be a pain. Me personally, since I'm not racing at the track I'd just get a good shift kit/converter and call it a day.

Yep, pretty much a daily driver until summer comes and then it's motorcycle time. Have to get an aftermarket a/c unit in the spring.
