Best way to clean motor
Well, it is time to clean the motor and get it ready for paint but, it is too cold here in Va. to do anything right now (no heat in the garage). What is the best way to clean a motor with taking it all apart? I had planned on putting it on the stand and breaking out Dad's pressure washer............
Forgot to mention that the engine is out of the truck

Re: Best way to clean motor
A good foaming engine degreaser, stiff brushes, and warm water!
If the engine runs, I get it warm first... If it doesnt, hit the really nasty parts with a heat gun... Heating that oily grime really helps!

Re: Best way to clean motor
Use one of the common degreaser like Simple Green with a pressure washer to gut all the gunk off. Scrub it was a mixtures of sudsy ammonia and water after that. The ammonia will get the last bit of soapy and oil residue . Be sure to have adequate ventilation when using the ammonia.
