Re: Who has the SPID with the MOST amount of options?

Not to steal your thunder Stubbs67
But a lot of whats listed on your spid is on most all trucks, I'm pretty sure your truck was originaly bought as a fleet order for a Large company, the State or US government.
So things that was standard on a RPO vehic was an option on a fleet order

Re: Who has the SPID with the MOST amount of options?

DAMN! Yes it was a fleet, KRUM TX Independant School district. It has motor pool grade body work (s#!ttons of bondo) and about 10 coats of white on it as it sits. I think they just sprayed it every couple years to freshen it up for when the folks from austin came and inspected the fleet lol.

I think decalcomania is GM speak for Chevy emblems.... maybe. There is three of those on the truck after all!

Re: Who has the SPID with the MOST amount of options?

Wow Stubbs, Its only missing the flux capacitor!

Seriously though, its funny how so many of the 'options' back in the day are just dumb stuff that doesn't really add value today- Take a different tire size, tinted glass, Am radio or HD battery, who cares the tires and battery are long gone, tinting was virtually clear, and AM sucks.

On the other hand, some of the options are so desireable- AC, tach, tilt, V8, buckets.

I guess my point, theres only a few options that really are significant in the 67-72. Its not like today when you're talking about the huge things like leather interior, heated seats, towing package, diesel engine, keyless entry/remote start, Those really are expensive options and vastly change truck value now.

Actually you are very wrong. You are looking at these trucks from a modern stand point. That's your first mistake. Sure, many options are rare to find "not" on these trucks, like am radio or gauges. But,to have a sizable list of options on one of these trucks is very impressive to those who know what they are looking at. Actually, now,it's the opposite. It's more unusual to find a truck that isn't loaded than not. That's why finding a loaded 67-72 is really something. You can find very unique combinations of options that can really set a truck apart, not like these days when everything is ordered in groups. The Highlander package of late '72 was the initiation of what was to follow and that was a small grouping of options.

Think you mistook what I meant by value. When I was talking about value I meant the MSRP of a 67-72 back when they were still being produced and same thing with today's trucks. I'm pretty sure things like wheel covers, HD battery, camper wiring, tinted windows, tow hooks wouldn't have increased the MSRP that much back then. Nothing like the increase with AC, BB, and auto trans.

The options today have more of an impact overall on MSRP since they are more substantial (Diesel, leather, etc). There aren't too many options today that only add a little to MSRP.

I agree and fully appreciate that today a well optioned classic truck is highly desireable. I am searching for those myself but am looking more at what the options are and not just how many there are. I also appreciate the rare options like tow hooks and roof clearance lights. Its fun to look at SPIDs and see what the options are!

Re: Who has the SPID with the MOST amount of options?

I am interested in seeing some of these SPIDS. Of course as said earlier a lengthy SPID doesn't always equal to a truck with desireable equipment. I have seen some heavily loaded SPID's for trucks that don't really add up to much: certain tires, larger battery, high output alternator etc.. and I have seen others that only have 8 or 10 options but they are options like Cheyenne Super, AM/FM, 402 BB, Tachometer, Comfortilt steering etc..

Re: Who has the SPID with the MOST amount of options?

While we're at it, can someone explain the prefix and suffix numbers surrounding the RPO codes? Some SPIDs have them and some don't. For example 1C6020, C60 is A/C with the prefix 1 and the suffix 20.
Thanks
