No Limit '72 C-10
Here it is guys, The 'Berdoo Bomber, our shop truck C-10 builder. I'll be putting up the updates as they come, and what our thoughts are. This was a Ebay find, we paid 2160 for this diamond in the rough. The good side is that its a short/fleet, and it runs & drives. The bad is, well, it needs some TLC, has some rust in the rockers, and the sweet 70's sunroof. (gotta go) It's 5 lug, which is nice. And, all in all, it's pretty straight. The bucket seats are probably leaving, as is the soft bed cover. It has a 350 with a gear drive, and a truck 4 speed. I am already on the hunt for a 5.3 vortec and L465 auto to put in.
The plan is to put together a fun and spirited driver. It must be able to tow our small inclosed trailer (20ft) it ways about 6k loaded. 4 whl discs are a must, and right now were thinking about air ride on the rear, and spring on the front. I thought at first it might have drop spindles, but no such luck, heated springs. We're trying to stay away from the big $$, so this will be a home built style, but if we decide that the upcoming fab work is to intense, we'll go with bolt-on parts. Since its a driver, we'll let you know the results of each step, as well as taking it out our local test track and running time-attacks to chart the performance gains. Right now it needs a battery, so thats the first thing. then off to the DMV for reg. We'll keep you posted. |

Re: No Limit '72 C-10
Along for the ride also.
I'm interested in all the details of the 5.3 swap. Are you going to keep a "running total" of the money spent on this build? I also think it would be cool to sell off all unwanted parts,... here in the 67-72 classifieds section. You know,... keep this among friends! (we might even have some parts YOU need)

Re: No Limit '72 C-10
Hey is this the truck that was in one of the truck mags recently getting the roof replaced? You should have left it all Joe Dirt style and make it just handle like a go-cart... That would make all those yuppie Porsche guys on the road course stain their Dockers when you are hanging door-to-door with them in the hairpins! Watching this one...

Re: No Limit '72 C-10
most defenitely gonna follow this build, sounds awesome.
I like the fact your doing it on a low budget, gives some of us other guys here on the forum the chance to see a truck being completed that we could have done and afforded ourselves. NICE!! |

Re: No Limit '72 C-10
Rob- I vote to leave the redneck look to it and build a "Joe Touring" truck that will beat the "Pro" cars and haul the goods.

Re: No Limit '72 C-10
OK, I dig the "Joe Touring" label. lol. First things first. After a few days driving, a few things stand out. Heated springs are a bad idea, I think my razor scooter rides better. The wipers don't do such a great job, and finding C-10 blades at Kragen is a disaster, - "does it have A/C?" But here is the first thing, these seats SUCK!!! They'd be great in a drag car or a sand rail, but not in a C-10. So, what seats do you guys like. I'm 6'2", so even the stocker may be a bit thick. I'm thinkin '88-'98 chev bench, what do you guys think? (tank will be out back) On the color, my grandad had a 72 c-20 camper special, dk green, so I think the color will stay as is. Hmmm, project J.T. - I like it.
