Hubcentric

Can someone explain the types of wheels to me. I'm looking at a set of the Nissan Titan steelies and trying to figure out if they will work or not. I've heard the term hubcentric thrown around. Not sure what it means. Thanks.

Re: Hubcentric

Hubcentric means that the wheel is centered off of the hub... not the lug nuts. If it were centered off of the lug nuts it will typically use a conical lug nut and be called lug centric

Re: Hubcentric

So the wheels on my 68 are lugcentric then. Do you know what the Nissan wheels are? After posting this I saw another pic of a truck with some on it, but haven't been able to find out what it takes to make it work yet. I wouldn't think anyone would go through a ton of trouble for them, but who knows.

Re: Hubcentric

The major concern when swapping on newer wheels with the same 6x5.5 bolt pattern is the centre hole size.

Re: Hubcentric

Hub centric wheels center on the hub of your brake rotor, or the hub of your drum. Lug centric wheels ( most aftermarket wheels )center on the lug nuts. ALL OE wheels currently are hub centric. The trouble you might have is that the hubs on your truck are larger that the Nissan wheels. If this is the case the wheels will not fit. IF they are larger then the will. OE engineers say that hub centric is preferred for a smoother truer ride.

Re: Hubcentric

i work at nissan as a tech. another tech there has a set of nissan stock steelies on his 02 suburban with no problems the hubs happen to be nearly the same. If you could measure your hub on your truck i can get you the measurment of the titans and you can have an answer if they will fit your truck.

Re: Hubcentric

Yeah, I finally talked to someone who has put these on a 67-72. The hub size is different, but you can either machine the wheels or the rotors/drums to make them fit pretty easily.

54 Caddy, that would awesome if you could get me that measurement. Then I would know for sure what kind of fit issues I would be dealing with. Thanks a lot.

What he said! If your vehicle requires hub centric you better do that or it will vibrate even with your wheels perfectly balanced. This a shop chaser nightmare with cheap wheel lines...

Re: Hubcentric

Dont let it scare you. My wheels are hub-centric and I run them lug-centric. No problems.

Re: Hubcentric

To further this discussion, what about the ability to interchange older & newer dually wheels?

Let's say you have an older 16" GM steel dually wheel & you want to swap to some newer 17" or larger steel GM/Dodge dually wheels?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Hubcentric

been real busy at work finally got to measure one. The assist which is our program we have with the service manuals for all the nissans does not list the measurment for the hub. i measured it and it is 3 1/16"
