I've been working on mine for a few months now and it was a good driver when I got it and didn't plan to do much at first... I've also been working on a tribute truck for my late son and this project has been going for a couple of years now, so I know how hard it can be wanting to get it done and enjoy it The good thing is that this place is a wealth of information and support, so you are in the right place to help you complete your project Tony Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 66 GMC Fleetside Okie Daily Driver
Ya know Kieth, I am normally not a green fan, but I do like the color on your truck. it's not overpowering and not too light. I also dont like the bed wood, you should remove it and get something more fitting for a nice truck like that, I am willing to take that wood off your hands and "dispose" of it so you wont be embarrassed at shows, it is the least I can do...whadyasay?

Re: 66 GMC Fleetside Okie Daily Driver
Yea, Okie Redneck driving a green truck.............oh well I have not seen one this color, just trying to look stock but just a little better.......The base paint is the std light green, but the white in the mix was replaced with silver metalic and the solid yellow with transparent yellow. It took a lot of paint because it is transparent 6 coats of color 2 coats of polyurethane..........thanks for the compliments. Kieth

the engine, transmission, front crossmember, powersteering , and the tilt wheel all came from a wrecked 91 suburban that I paid $600.00 for.....Kieth I wanted to leave the original key switch on the dash, might make it the on switch for a alarm....... Last edited by kieth; 07-15-2011 at 06:12 PM. |

Clyde, come on up, its cooler up in Oklahoma than it is in Dallas, Texas cause you guys always do things better than everyone........my gauge shows 107 degrees this afternoon........If you can pull this bedwood out without us knowing come and get it. Knowing what I do now, I will buy the wood the next time..........If the wood is sized properly and the grooves are cut properly the installation process would have gone quickly. But when you are poor boying it and you cut your own wood and did not do it quite right, the errors start to mount up and you end up taking everything out 2-3 times and correcting the errors, repainting the wood , and then reinstalling it. Man these trucks are a lot of work.........Kieth: gmc2: |

Re: 66 GMC Fleetside Okie Daily Driver
If you had seen how really bad the paint looked you would not have been so fond of it. I painted it green because I used to work at the Admiral Twin Drive In when I was 12-16 years old, the truck we drove around the theater was light green, it had a 6 cyl with a 3 on the tree, and we used to pop wheelies with it much to the displeasure of the manager ! I wanted it to look similar to that truck but got a little carried away.....it was the first truck I drove so I thought it would be fun to recreate it. Now I plan on driving it every day. Kieth |
