New guy with a ?

I've been on here a little while, but have never posted. Just soaking up all the knowledge and ideas for my build. I have 69 GMC that I'm doing a complete frame-off resto. My question is about my truck. I was under the impression that GMC's came with leaf springs, mine has coils. Could someone tell me if that is accurate or not? It's titled as a 68 and I'm putting a 68 front end on it. However i know its a 69 because it has the foot E-brake and VIN shows it as a 69 as well. Thanks for all the help and I love the site. It's an invaluable tool.

I'm about 99.9% certain that GMCs could be optioned with coil springs in the rear, but came standard with leafs. If you look on the SPID sticker on the inside of your glovebox door (if it's still there), I think it should list the rear coil springs as an option.

Gmc trucks could have coils, and chevys could have leafs.

Re: New guy with a ?

Okay, thanks a lot guys. Will start posting build pics soon.I think you guys will really like it. SWB F/S. 4/6 drop. Brothers alum fuel tank, extreme drop cross member, will by no means be a low rider though. Rear shock relocate and super trac bar kit. Chassis is pretty much done. In the process of a 421 small block build. It should be pretty nasty. Should put out close to 600 hp and torque.

Re: New guy with a ?

69 GMC 1/2 ton trucks came standard with coils in the back acording to some of my GMC papers. Most ppl here will argue this, but your 69, my old 69, my friends old 69... all had coils with no mention on the SPID... Plus the GMC paperwork and brochures I have.
