Hi guys,

Is the picture below my power steering pump? If so, how do I get the cover off to check the fluid?

Also, why doesn't it look like the power steering pump on LMC's parts page?

Thats the master cylinder for your brake system and the larger part behind is the brake booster (uses vacuum). Power steering pump is at the front of the engine and driven by the belt(s).

As mentioned above it's the master cylinder for the brakes. You flip the first wire clamp back toward you and the other toward the brake booster to get the cap off to check the brake fluid.

if you have power steering that pump is located at the front bottom of the engine on the drivers side it is powered by one of the fan belts it will have a cap that you unscrew and there's a dipstick attached to the cap sometimes to measure fluid in the pump

But the brake fluid is stored where I took a picture of, right? Or does the power steering pump have a separate reservoir that I have to add fluid to?

Separate reservoir lower right front of engine (as you are standing in front of it). Check it with the engine off. It takes power steering fluid.
By the way, when you put your master cylinder cap back on, carefully push the portions of the rubber gasket in that may be hanging out back up in the cap.

Thanks guys. I checked the power steering reservoir, it's good to go. For the life of me I can't take off the cover of the master cylinder. I tried to pull the wire clamps, but they don't want to clear the top of the cap. Help! Also, if the master cylinder fluid is low, I put brake fluid in it, correct?

Yes just the brake fluid is stored in the picture you are showing. The clamps may be tight or even stuck. The picture that I'm showing is of a newer model but the power steering reservoir is in the same general location. Hope this helps. See the round cap under the alternator. That is the power steering res. Righty tighty lefty loosey.

Put a flat blade screwdriver under the front strap from the back side and lift the handle. HMMM. push/pull the handle to the front of the truck as to pry it open. Then repeat the step for the rear but put the tip of the screwdriver pointing towards the cab and lift the handle of the screwdriver.. I hope you can follow what I am trying to describe. You have to use it as leverage. Just be carefull not to stretch out your clips. They should be snug and not loose so that the brake fluid doesnt leak out.
