Question 69 custom door panels

Anyone have a good picture of the 69 custom door panels? Is this a one year only design?

I heard they have a bowtie on them. Is this an emblem added on or built into the shape or ??

Also, any suggestions on where to get custom color vinyl spray made? Need the maroon color that 69 offered since no one seems to be reproducing the interior parts in that color.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: 69 custom door panels

the 69 model year had 3 styles of panels. We'll ignore the stamped steel bare panels, since that's not what you're asking about.
The vinal covered panels had 2 styles. In early 69, there was a chevy bow tie (or GMC letters) embossed in the vinal, like the scroll work. in mid 69, the bow tie (or GMC letters) was dropped and they went without.
69 was a one year only style on these door panels. In 70 they had woodgrain along the top, same as 71.

Re: 69 custom door panels

That clears that up. I saw a pair on ebay that didn't have a bowtie. I did find a picture of the bowtie panels since posting this.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: 69 custom door panels

It's pretty neat to find the logo embossed door panels. The ones w/o have a blank gap. I'd check at a quality automotive paint supplier. They can match any color in a spray bomb and there are bonding enhancers. Not all shops will be able to provide a high flex dye,but I think you can find what you need.
