what to do what to do
My 70 has been bagged for the past few years. Its was cool for a while but im tired of it now. So , im going back to springs. I really want to go with a 4/6 but I use this truck to pull my bass boat, 17ft fiberglass with 150. So i asked ece they recommend 5inch. What im wondering is there anyone in here that uses there lowered truck to pull a boat with? Airshocks? I do have the shock relocators also extreme drop crossmember, super track bar, 1 pc driveshaft. I use a 3 inch raise on the hitch. Just wondering if someone can tell me about there situation before i get into mine. The lake is 10 min down the road and i have no intention of trying to do and long trips. Thanks.

6" leaves you just enough room to drive careful without a load and still possibly bottom a bit in certain few situations. These trucks either need to be notched or run bags to haul with 6" drop. How bad would it be to just go with 5"?

The bags would probably be best for towing. Is there is a problem with your current setup and towing?

Do you currently have a c-notch? If so, you will be fine with a 6" drop and towing. You could also use a 6" drop spring and get some helper bags, just when towing.

no c notch so i was going to air shocks, i guess i would just have to be careful to not stretch the springs by overpressure, im not planning on hauling anything heavy just want it to hold up to short trips to the lake pulling the boat. i was also thinking adding extra shock mounts for the air shocks and running them neutral for daily driving. anyone ever try this? Nobody else on here tows with 5 or 6 drop without c notch?
71swb no problems with current setup hauls great. just tired of it and want a change. |

The air shocks will help a little but wont really keep it from bottoming out. You could try them and see though for sure. Air shocks also don't work "neutral". They just dampen different with less air, so adding them extra wont really help.
I would just do the 6" drop with air shocks and see what happens. Worst case scenario is you may have to c-notch it. Do you have a steel or aluminum trailer for the boat?
