Anlge of C-Notch

What is the best angle to cut your c-notch at? I was told 35* but everything came out wrong. I asked a friend if he could please cut that same angle at his fab shop and when I got the pieces evrything matched up just fine. When I checked the angle thou it was 55* not 35*. 55*+35*=90* right??? So when I am setting up my cheap harbor frieght chop saw it has adjust from 0-45*. Where do I set it? 35* I am hoping right.
