NEED HELP On Fan Shroud decal!
Hey Everyone,
I'm wanting to reproduce a Yelllow Paper Decal that was on my fan shoud but I've forgotten what was written on the decal cause it crumbled on me. It was on all earlier Canadian built cars and trucks and was a "GM CANADA Completed" decal that was stuck on the fan shroud after leaving the assembly line. I did fill in what I could easily pick out, IF ANYONE has one of these decals or knows what was on these, Please let me know so I can re-make it. By the way the last "#" toward the bottom had the same number as on my fire wall written on the decal in pen. (What is that number by the way? you can see it written on the heater box and under the top coat of paint on the fire wall as well) Thanks-a-million!!! Regards, David

Re: NEED HELP On Fan Shroud decal!
These decals were supplied by the GM Dealer for the GM Techs to add to the fan shroud or Rad Brace after a Campain or Recall was competed. The number written was usually the Campain or Recal number. I "might" Have some left in My Toll box But Thats A big "Might" or I have some Old GM Buddies that "Might"....I can Check...
An Ole GM Tech

Re: NEED HELP On Fan Shroud decal!
WOW, Thank you very much!
I really wonder what recall could have been done... Its a 1980 GMC with only 31,000 km. That would be interesting, its a original truck from the GM Dealership in Stettler, Alberta. Thanks again if you have any! David

Re: NEED HELP On Fan Shroud decal!
Sometimes it was a small Campain, Drivability issue or even something as small as a new clamp. I Can't remeber how many of those things we put on. You might want to check even a local dealer. The boys in the back even might have a few left in ther toolbox?. I have an ol GM buddy that might have a couple left hes checkin for me.

Re: NEED HELP On Fan Shroud decal!
I looked up recall's on my pickup and the only one listed is:
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 81V010000 Recalls Summary: Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s): CHEVROLET / C20 1979-1980 CHEVROLET / C30 1979-1980 CHEVROLET / K20 1979-1980 CHEVROLET / K30 1979-1980 GMC / C20 1979-1980 GMC / K20 1979-1980 GMC / K30 1979-1980 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 81V010000 Summary: FATIGUE CRACKS MAY DEVELOP IN THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER HOUSING. THIS MAY CAUSE A VACUUM LEAK AND REDUCE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE BRAKES. AFTER PROLONGED USE, THE CRACKS MAY DEVELOP TO THE EXTENT THAT THE BOOSTER MAY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. Consequence: There is no summary currently available Remedy: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED FOR FATIGUE CRACKS IN THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER. THOSE WITHOUT CRACKS WILL HAVE A SUPPORT BRACE INSTALLED. THOSE WITH EVIDENCE OF CRACKING WILL HAVE A NEW BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER AND SUPPORT BRACE INSTALLED. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE. Notes: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH VACUUM POWER DISC/DRUM BRAKES.SYSTEM: SERVICE BRAKES; VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER HOUSING.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: SEPARATION WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITYWITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKINGABILITY MAY ALSO LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT, PARTICULARLY IN SITUATIONS WHERE MINIMUMSTOPPING DISTANCE IS REQUIRED. This makes sense because the brace is installed on the truck. If you do get a hold of one of those stickers let me know.
