heat trouble????
Need help, changed radiator, thermostat, and still no heat inside.
Could this be a problem with heater core?? Can I disconnect heater hoses under the hood and blow it out (with air or water) or will that cause more problems. I am at a loss. Everything is working but no heat!!

Re: heat trouble????
it could be your heater core, but start out with making sure it is hooked up right. your 'hot' line is supposed to go in the bottom of the core. it supposed to work like this: hot goes in the bottom, and it pushed the old colder stuff out the top, therefore making more heat, rather then hot going in the top and just running out.

Re: heat trouble????
It is connected correctly but with no heat.
The heat stopped when the radiator started leaking and it took a few weeks to replace it and I thought this would correct the heat problem. But still no heat and everything is connected correctly.

Re: heat trouble????
If the heater core has never been replaced, and your coolant looked like mud when you replaced the radiator. Then chances are it's probably filled with sediment, or I have seen where the metal fittings on the engine have rusted shut. Have you taken both heater hoses off the engine, then try blowing air through one hose to see if you get anything out the other hose?
Could also be that the heater core is filled with air, and has caused a pocket that can't escape? Have you tried running the engine for a long period of time, while flushing the coolant out through the drain petcock on the radiator and a garden hose in the filler?

Re: heat trouble????
Flush the heater core both directions with mild pressure from the garden hose and make sure the hoses are routed correctly as mentioned above. Also, while your at it, make sure the thermostat is not upside down.

Re: heat trouble????
Just flushed it both ways with water and air and it is now heating.
Great and thanks.

Re: heat trouble????
I am having the same problem. The supply hose goes from the intake to the bottom of the heater core. The top heater core hose goes to the radiator. I replaced the radiator and the trucks heating was great before the radiator needed to be replaced. The heater core is two years old and was installed when the 427bb was rebuilt and installed.
The water pump radiator return hose was also cool until I drilled two small holes in the 190f thermostat. The top radiator supply hose is also warm after a few minutes. It seems like nothing is going to the heater core. When I squeeze both heater core hoses with the radiator cap off the coolant goes up and down. I ran the truck brief with the heater core return hose off and it was flowing strong. I am going to buy another 190 stat tomorrow and try this again. Any pointers will be appreciated.
