Question Lift kits for 1 Tons??? Any pics of 3+3 4x4s??

Hey fellas, I just bought another 1 Ton 4x4 and was wondering if they make a lift kit for a 1980 1 Ton?? It is a 3+3 cab right now but I'm probably going to make it a single cab. Not really sure yet. Do you guys have any pictures of any 3+3 1 Ton 4x4s?? I would like to see one done before I ditch the 3+3 cab.

Thanks again guys. Have a safe New Year.

Re: Lift kits for 1 Tons??? Any pics of 3+3 4x4s??

Suspension lifts are all the same regardless of cab, bodylifts are available, only difference is you'll need a couple more blocks for a crewcab. I have a 4 inch Rancho kit ready to go in my 3+3, but no pictures yet.
Why, moght I ask, would you get rid of a crewcab and go with a regular cab? Going to have an excess amount of frame left over. And if you cut the frame you are doing a tremendous amount of work to simply reduce the functionality and value of the truck. Crewcabs are getting quite rare. If you don't want a crewcab, perhaps you could sell it to one of us who loves them, then buy a regular cab on any streetcorner in America for short money.
For pictures, check out the thread "how about some pics of 73-91 crewcabs" listed in the above section. There's 100 pages of photos, and quite a few lifted ones. Unfortunately you will have to wade through hundreds of pictures of lowered, hacked up, slammed to the ground ugly vomit inducing crewcabs too. There, I said it! Lowered trucks make me puke!

I wasn't going to cut anything on the 3+3. I have an extra regular 1 Ton cab in my field. I also have an extra reg cab for it. I was going just use the drivetrain off of it. As for ugly. I agree. 4wd or NOTHING!!!!

If you just want a lift kit with a basic spring and block kit that's FIne, but if you wanna end up with a big truck or something that functions great in the hills there are other options.

I DO want a truck that functions in the Hills (Black Hills SD). Looking at building a good Bug-Out truck. What do you recommend???

Thanks

Go over to the Pirate board and do some reading and you'll find more information that you can process. I warn you though, those guys will eat a newbie up if you're not careful. Read a lot before posting and make sure your question hasn't been covered a lot before, or post on the newbie section for awhile.

guess it depends on your budjet.

the new and eazy thing is conver the fron to 52 inch springs and a shackle flip in the rear. that will yeild about 4 inches.

crossover steering, extended brake lines, and longer (6 inch shocks) would be the bacis and a good start to a decent to system.

an over the counter lift will work too, but ive been seeing guys with 52's in fron getting crazy with it

52's are the rear springs from 73+ chevy 2 or 4wds put in the front

have you been over to coloradok5.com

that is true. in fact they are so bad there I would recommend against going there. I have searched there on occasion for info, and I get disgusted by the way I see them treat new people. No need for rudeness, it seems like somehow that forum attracts and retains people that are total opinionated ignorant a-holes. They don't have any info that can't be found elsewhere on the web, usually with a far better class of people.

I really like fullsizechevy.com, and someone else mentioned coloradok5 which is great too.

Just a FYI, better be careful with the trade offers and for sale offers. This will get locked ASAP!

Re: Lift kits for 1 Tons??? Any pics of 3+3 4x4s??

1) How much total weight can a stock front axle carry?

2) Please give links etc. to modifications that could increase weight capacity; i'm going forward with my series 60 idea---it's sort of like Rhett Butler when he just said Frankly---i don't give a (*&^&+ and just walked away into the fog, or that guy that died while playing video games for 72 hours straight or when Capt. Decker said no i'm staying here with this bald woman where i belong. All beautiful, noble (if a little insane) acts. In other words, i've lost my mind.

3) How much total weight can the front suspension on something like dieselwrencher's truck(i like) take?

Re: Lift kits for 1 Tons??? Any pics of 3+3 4x4s??

Here's mine back when I first bought it off of eBay. Still torn apart at the moment in the midst of VERY in-depth build-up. Keep your's a crew cab! I bought a lift kit from Skyjacker for mine, but it had a Pro Comp on it when I bought it - so there's lots of lift options out there for them.
