72 transfer case identification
I have a 72 4+4 and i have looked for id on the case , and cannot find any much . I have read the odd post and can only suspect it to be a 205 . any input appreciated

Pics pics pics!!!! Should be a 205, possibly a 203. I'm not a 67-72 guy, not sure what they came with factory. But after 30+ years could have been swapped...

Only thing available in that year was a 205. (manual or automatic) 203s weren't around until 73 and the rockwells were gone in 68.

There should be a tag on the back of the case. It would be a NP205 if it's original. It will be cast iron.

Yup, prolly a NP205...look for a small round plate towards the rear, should see three bolts holding this plate on the pass side of the T-case...what is your T-case shift pattern?

A '76 and '72 205. The clean one is the '72

the plate on the pass side is usually on the back side as shown in the previous photos but i do not see a tag - like i have seen on new process 88-98 chev transfer cases - is the tag further around on the pass side ? thanks for the imput

The tag is on the front of the case right under the shift rods

Wrong, Rockwells were still in 69's and early 70's. But like everyone else said, I'm sure it is a 205 unless someone has changed it.
