Front end swap idea

So i have been staring at the front end of my 79 1/2 ton and trying to decide how i can make it different. I have been toying with a custom front roll pan and welding the headlight buckets and trim into one piece and just smoothing the whole front end out. I was shaken from my dream to go and give someone a jump start in my 06 and while i was waiting for their car to charge up it hit me! Why not take a 03-06 front end and cut it up and make it fit on the 79. What do you guys think? i Know it will take a lot of work but i think it will look sick!!!

Re: Front end swap idea

I'd rather have a 73-80 round headlight front end then any other.

Re: Front end swap idea

no thank you only newer model front end that looks good on a square is the 89-91 build for a square.

Re: Front end swap idea

Photoshop it to see if you would like it. Personally I agree with the lines not flowing but those were more square than say the 01-02's. It would be hard to get everything lined up and flowing unless your an incredible body man/metal fabricator.

Re: Front end swap idea

x3 for the badger.

I don't like the 88-91 quad lights for these trucks either, I don't even like the 81-87 front ends lol, I don't like the 88-98 front ends on 88-98 trucks, and i surely hate the newere 99 and up front ends on anything. I do not like the 99+ swaps on 88-98's.

Re: Front end swap idea

yuck, I would say a 73-80 front end treatment with 73-78 head light bezels, 73-78 Chevy grille or a billet grille, or if you want a newer look then a 81-87 dual light front end with 83-87 front bumper 85-87 head light bezels, 85-87 Chevy grille or billet grille, any other ways looks silly

Re: Front end swap idea

It would be impressive from a fabrication stand point if you pulled it off, but i honestly dont think it would look that good. Maybe you could have the photoshop guys play with the idea first...

Re: Front end swap idea

I thought about doing some sort of front end mods to mine as well. Everyone looks the same, so how do you stand out?

If you were going to go through all that fab work, why not make some hideaway headlights or something for it instead? Do a 69 Camaro or Cougar look.

Or, what about a Chrysler 300? They have the same sort of shape, but different.

I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm in being different!
