Deal of the day
My father and I went to a swap meet today. They have it every year in Lincoln, Ne and its really big took 5 hours to walk around. I went with a small list of things I was looking for. Found a dash pad not a dash cap for my truck in perfect shape for $5.00 missed a brush aluminum dash bezel in perfect shape. The guy sold it for $3.00 I blamed my dad all day for driving so slow as the reason why I missed it. lol Didn't find the other few things i was looking for but theres alot more swap meets this summer. I was so excited all day on my find. All I have to do is dye it black. Heres a couple pics.
Don't mind my nosie dog. Jason |

Sweet deal man! I live in Shenandoah, you have probably heard of it. I haven't heard about any swap meets in Lincoln. Where do you find out about them? Are they listed in the paper? After I get my 79 around Easter, I should know what I am in need of, and then maybe I can go check a couple swap meets out. I would have liked to have nailed that brushed aluminum dash bezel for $3 too!!

Damn that's a hell of a deal. That's the color I have now and need. Too bad you're not selling it. I might have thought about grabbing it. BTW: what year bezel you looking for? I may have a way of getting one like the one I grabbed before.

Yes you can find them in the omaha world hearld. The one in Lincoln is always march 9th or close to it. the next big one is in Wahoo I'll have to get back to you on the date. Then after that theres a big one in fremont. Other than that theres alot of little ones all over the place. 79BIG10 Im looking for one for a 1982 silverado. Id like to find one with the brush alumiun on the top and bottom but I doubt I will find a used one in great shape. Also has to have the square hole for delay wipers. Thanks Jason |

Jason, what year truck do you own?
The reason i ask is cause you have a 73-80 dash pad there and you are looking for a '82 bezel. Just curious. -Jeff |

I have a 82 chevy short box 4x4. I thought all pads from 73-87 would fit. Am I wrong? and if so I might have to sell this one and find one that will fit at the next swap meet. How can you tell it's the wrong one?

No, there are differences in the dash pads but not sure what they are. If you do sell, I think you have a buyer already in 79BIG10.

The pad will technically fit, it just won't "line up" with your door panels. The 73-80 pads as you can see are more rounded on the pass side, the 81+ pads are more squared off. Also, I am not sure a newer bezel can be used with a older pad and vice-versa...maybe Chris (Capt Kaos) will pop in and share his knowledge with us.
I just wanted to make sure you knew what you had. Even if you had to sell it, you could make some pretty good money compared to what you paid...but then you also lost your kick-butt deal! -Jeff |

Cool, Jason, thanks for the info.
Well, even if you don't end up using your dash pad, you will definately make some pocket change! I wish I had my 79 already so I knew what I all needed, IF I needed a dash pad, I would have been all over yours! :p -Chris

Hey why don't you just pass it on down the line and hook up another chevy owner and sell it for 50-75 bucks instead of jacking it up to 130. I think thats BS you paid 5 bucks for it and you start the bidding at 130

Maybe hes trying to make a few bucks ($125) on it.
I can understand wanting to make money off a good find, hey I know about being short on money. I spend it as it comes in Anyway you shouldnt have told us you bought it so cheap then try to sell it to us, it just causes problems. Next time just say you got a good deal, then try to sell it for whatever. Remember hooking up other members is one of those things, what goes around comes around. Many members have helped me and I appreciate it alot. Im always willing to help another member out. I dont think he didnt anything wrong with marking it up, but he shouldnt have told us what he paid
