Startin my 62' project NEED HELP!!!!!
first thing i wanna do is swap out the torsion bars!!! can i get a list of parts im gonna need??? crossmember??? etc.... i am going to go with disc brakes, so i beleive it is 72-81??? not 100% sure. i am not hands on with this stuff. i have a local shop who said they will do the work, but i want input from you guys who actually have these trucks and no a lot about them. Any input/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance! also am gonna be baggin it on 22's so if anyone wants to just add me and stay in touch??? that be cool too! Thanks Again Guys!

Re: Startin my 62' project NEED HELP!!!!!
Welcome! I just moved from Medford a few months ago.
There are a lot of options in the disc brake swap FAQ, the easiest is a 73-87 crossmember, but they are 5 lug, so you have to do something about the rear (I got an axle out of a '77). Find a donor and grab all the steering parts and crossmember, that way it's all the same and you know it works together. Good luck on the project.

Re: Startin my 62' project NEED HELP!!!!!
That's a cool truck! Welcome!!
jimmydean is right, 73-87 would be the easiest/most common swap for the front end. That's what's under my '62. It has a '72 rear end on it. Keep us posted and remember, we love pics!!

Re: Startin my 62' project NEED HELP!!!!!
There is a dealership on 99 near Talent with quite a few square bodies on the lot. It's on the right heading towards Ashland (has a red white and blue car mounted on a pole). I bet he would either have a donor or help you find one for cheap.

WOW, this is shaping up to be an Oregon thread
Love the '62, I put mine on a later chassis all the way. Just seemed like the thing to do at the time. |
