Looking good gman, nice to have it home I bet. Those colours are sharp, it will look really good with all the trim and GMC grill bling.

Gman,

I just got through looking these pics over again...Are my eyes failing me or has your bed been made longer? And if so, was there a reason for the extension or just because??? Really curious about your mods...

Re: Paint and body work are done

Hi thanks for the comments is been a long time coming to get this stage. Those are dual fuel tank doors on the bed, I thought about patching them over but decided to keep them so if I ever wanted to put the tanks back in it would be much easier as they bolt to wood bed.The box is standard size for the longhorn no mods. The truck will be completly stock down to the hubcaps except for the stereo that will be installed into the glove box with the original radio in the dash for appearance.

SOLDIER, your looking a longhorn edition 3/4 ton truck. I forgot how much it added (less than 2' I believe). but it came from the factory with that forward extension.

reason: iirc, during the hey days of camping in the late 60's - early 70's, you could order a longhorn that would allow you to use a slide in camper. sooo, these trucks were mostly used for hauling the slide ins. but they are great for carrying a stretched out chopper without it hanging out of the bed. ask me, I know.

btw, that is a fine looking rig. one of favorite color schemes.

The longhorn bed(104") is 6 inches longer than a longbed(98"), the wheelbase is 133" as opposed to 127". Factory stock, and pretty rare.

Re: Paint and body work are done

Thanks Gillnetter, no The body work was done by a co workers friend in Burnaby then he recommended a painter and body man that does a lot of custom cars in Langley for the paint.

Re: Paint and body work are done

you can get stereos that have new internals but have the original stock appearance now days. i dont know who it is that makes them but i have seen them advertised several times on different tv shows. and if it is a cd player that you are looking for they have the disc changers that will plug directly into the back of their new old style shaft stereos. this will at least keep it to where you can use your glove box for other things than having the passenger change the station for you. I would hate to see the longhorn wrapped around a power pole because you HAD to change the station on the radio reaching across the cab at 65 MPH.
