Is it worth it
Okay on craigslist there is a 1980 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 (Federal Truck). Current Non-op. Locking front hubs, 4 speed with granny low, 350 motor, 410 gears.
$900 OBO do you think it is worth the price for axles, springs and trans and transfer case and other items to go into my blazer. I could probably put what I take out of mine in it to resale as a 1/2 ton 4x4 with auto I talked to the guy and he said it was driven there and someone stole the dizzy so I could probably make run for little of nothing here is the link http://visalia.craigslist.org/cto/2103297657.html

Re: Is it worth it
In my opinion, yes. Looking at the front end thought it doesnt look like an 80. 1980 had square headlights. it looks like a 79. It as a service body on it, so you could either sell or scrap the truck and make your money back. I would pull the spark plugs and see how they look. It will probably have a larger radiator than your blazer. In Cali that would be a plus.

Re: Is it worth it
I would say it is just for the parts alone. Offer them $500 take off the stuff you want then scrap the rest. In the end, your parts will probably only cost you $100-$200.
That truck could very well be a 1980. The lower level trucks still had round headlights in 1980.

Re: Is it worth it
I would say yes. Having a donor vehicle is much nicer than a pile of parts when you are doing a swap like that. You are going to a stronger drivetrain, getting rid of the 203 and getting lower axle gears all at once, plus you'll have all the things like cross members, clutch pedal and parts and drivelines there to use what you want.

Re: Is it worth it
thanks for the replies I was thinking it would be worth it just wanted someone's thoughts on the idea the radiator shouldn't be any bigger because mine has a 400sb which has a big block radiator from the factory
