whats different on 71,72 front suspension parts?
It seems to be harder to find parts for the 71-72 front ends ( drop spindles, upper & lower balls joints etc.) Can I use 67-70 parts?

Upper ball joints, tie rod ends, and drag link are different.

I've had no issue finding those parts for 71-72. From local auto parts to board vendors, they seem to all have those parts in stock and readily available. Only difference being brand and quality between sources.

Re: whats different on 71,72 front suspension parts?
Lowerball joints are different as well. If you are swapping from 67-70 to 71-72, you will need the following parts: Upper and lower ball joints for 71-72, inner and outer tie rods and sleeves for 71-72, drag link for 71-72, spindles for 71-72. Parts you can reuse: pitman arm, end link on pasenger side. Hope this helps, just did a swap on 68 from drum to disk and used the rotor/caliper line kit from GMC pauls- $350 +/-. you will need to buy a reman 71-72 disk brake master cylinder $25 and a prop valve either used or on ebay for roughly $50. You will need to buy a pair of adapter bushings to reduce the upper lines from 1/4 to 5/16 at bottom of prop valve, you will also need a 1/4 to 1/4 compression fitting and a 8" length of steel line that is 1/4 to the correct end (size escapes me at the moment) to fit in the rear of the prop valve. With replacing ball joints and bleeding/install figure a good sat. or roughly 5 hours. It is a 1 man job until the bleeding of the brakes. It is pretty straight forward and the kit from GMC pauls uses good components, wheel bearings, seals, calipers, hoses and pads. Easy to do, just dont rush. Hope this helps.
