Gauge Needle Painting

I have started a rebuild of my gauge cluster. While awaiting a vacuum gauge to complete the full 7 gauges, I've tackled painting the top 3 in red. Here's how they turned out after an overnight curing. I'll mask the others off when I get the vacuum gauge in a few days.

Re: Gauge Needle Painting

I bought a new tac/vac lens, new bulbs/bulb housings and painted the outer bezel black. Can't wait to get the vac gauge, paint the small gauges and re assemble everything. I'll take pics/post as I go.

Re: Gauge Needle Painting

It 's looking great,. I found this thread on the FAQs and thought I'd post it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=110613
It may help you or other forum members on their clusters. Thanks for your thread. I want to repaint my needles also. I saw a thread once where a member used tester's luminescent orange to repaint the needles. If I find it I will post it.

Re: Gauge Needle Painting

Hey Harry...have you tried to pop those needles off....I know I repainted my speedo and fuel gauges and they just popped off....use caution and go easy and they'll come right off....no masking required

Re: Gauge Needle Painting

Here's an updated picture of 6 of 7 needles painted. Just waiting for the vacuum gauge to arrive and I'll paint that needle red then reassemble everything (hopefully by the end of the weekend).
