Show me your rears!

Trying to decide what I want to do in the rear of my truck. Thinking the stock tail lights and brackets (licence plate bracket cut down to just the tail light bracket) and a roll pan with center licence plate.

Tail gate with the letters and hidden latches instead of chains.

Let me see what you did.

Re: Show me your rears!

Here is mine.

I used modified 56 chevy truck LED taillights and brackets. I also went with the hidden latches as well as the tailgate links from Mar-K

I also used a steel roll pan.

Good luck

Re: Show me your rears!

Nice!

What kind of latches did you use, the little pull out pins that everyone sells with the knobs in the inside of the tail gate, or the latches that look like bear claw door latches, and I think have a center handle in the middle of the tail gate?

Also what supports the tail gate when open, their metal hinges, straps?

Can you sit on the gate when down?

Yes, I used the stainless spring loaded pins that mount on the inside the tailgate. I used the metal Mar-K straps (shown on the home page of the web site I listed). I have not tried to sit on it, but I bet it would hold. They are really well made. Not cheap but well made.

Re: Show me your rears!

I would be concerned about whatever holds the straps to the tailgate and bed sides tearing out, not the straps themselves breaking. Looks like its just one small screw that holds them on.

I have seen other guys that have like nylon straps, but I would guess its the same deal for attachment.

It's a secret.........I used a rubber grommet and I flared one end of the tube so that it would fit tight. I then drilled through the bed side and slipped the other end in to hole. This way the tube is supported on both ends...Make sense??

Re: Show me your rears!

I have seen this gold truck before. i always wondered why someone else has not done this before. The windows being different heights is one things about 5 windows that I don't care for.

This isn't mine but I am definitely heading in this direction, sans the marker lights on the top of the roll pan.

Re: Show me your rears!

I just finished tunneling in some caddy lights. Haven't mounted the fenders back to the bed though. The lights are just setting in there. I don't know exactly how far I want them to protrude.

Re: Show me your rears!

Here's mine. I rounded the bed corners and welded in thestake pockets. I Really wanted to go without a bumper but I was rear ended pretty good and the only thing that got damaged was a tail light lens the other car was torn up. The bumper was ugly so I drilled holes in it, cut off the tow hitch step and chrome plated it. I chrome plated the Lic. plate coz I didn't want it to be that noticable, I would rather run with ho plate at all. You can get a hide-away set up where you flip a switch and the plate folds under the bumper. I might do that later.

Just got a roll pan with center licence plate.

Looks like I need to cut some off the bottom of that back bed piece to get it up high enough???

Yes you do have to cut a notch in the rear crossmember for the rear roll pan
