Those of you who have airbagged or are running a large drop, what have you done with the gas tank? Does it hang really low, or hit the ground? Is there a slimmer alternative?

I haven't bagged a truck, and I'm not sure if the factory tank will drag...but if I'm not mistaken it is 17 inches from top to bottom. Mrhino had installed one of these tanks here at this thread (see post #28 through #40). It seemed to fit in his truck real nice and looks like it might save you about a few inches of depth if you end up needing to.

I saw that, looks good just not too sure about the notch in the frame for the hose....

Well...how about a 25 gallon (NOT the 31 gallon) tank from a 73+ blazer. They fit back there perfectly and are less than 11 in tall. It is helpful if you cut and rotate the filler tube but not 100% necessary. Basically you would swivel it to make it point the other direction.

I also have a stock tank, but with a bolt in c notch.

What about a fuel cell from Dave Boyd or Fuelcellguy? You can get it made as high and tight as you want/need.

Mark (Fuelcellguy) is having a pretty nice sale right now. It might offset a lot of the shipping cost. Check the Vendor section.

Fuel Cell Guy-Mark, has done several for me.
They fit nice with no cutting or mods to stock filler, etc.
They look so nice compared to stock or plastic.
Warning: They make you want to do more things under there like new exhaust, big vette rams, smooth filler cap and...and...and.
