Rechroming question for plastics and pop metal
Anybody have any leads on who to go to for plastic rechroming? Also rechroming on pot metal such as the outside door handles. Thanks!

Re: Rechroming question for plastics and pop metal
As for plastic re-chroming, there's a process that is called "Cobalt plating" that will allow for "chroming" virtually anything. Around here, a guy that does powder-coating was going to get into that business of chrome-plating. Check around and see what you find in your area. Genuine chrome shops have a lot of government rules/regs that apply because of the chemicals involved. The cobalt plating doesn't.

"Willisch" is a member of the board here- he does some type of coatings and may be able to help.

Re: Rechroming question for plastics and pop metal
Here's what I found out:
"Thanks for contacting me about doing your plastic parts. We can do alot of finishes but currently we cannot do the chrome look. We can however do alot of brushed metals such as aluminum, stainless, etc. We can also do different custom looks such as carbon fibers, burlwoods, wood grains, etc. Sorry if this isn't much help but if we can help you in anyway give us a call" Some of his custom looks may cool on the gauge cluster and other.......
