I read in another post about gettin ready to do an exhaust upgrade.
You are in Austin, right? Do they do emission testing there? I know there is about 4 or 5 counties in Tx that do. If so, you need to talk to an inspection referee before you add another cat. Technicly, that is tampering with an emmision controll product, hense, illegal.
Look into it before you modify it. It could save you LOTS of money, and if I am wronr, or they don't care there, then you'll know for a fact, and you could even get it in writing.
Te remove a working cat, or to place a cat in a location other than factory is illegal by federal law. By adding one, you are placing it in other than factory location.
Just wanted to giv you a heads up.
If they say it's a no-go, you can put a daul inlet daul outlet cat and run it that way. This is basicly 2 cats wrapped up in one shell.

longhornmail,

Thanks for the thought. Austin does not currently have any emmission testing. I say in a few years they will. Since I have owned my truck, it has only been inspected once in Austin. The other times I've taken up to my hometown. In and out in five minutes. They just check for lights!!

My plan is to install headers and H pipe run two cats and two flowmasters. All in preparation for the 350 SB.

Just had to give you a heads up. I lived in Kileen for 7 yrs and I know how bad the inspection is supposed to be...even with out the sniffer.
Just another way for the state to get in your wallet IMO...we have no inspection here.

Talking

Visual inspections are bad in Austin. Went to 8 different stations two years ago and none would pass my truck. Problem was that I don't run the factory intake hose anymore. I also removed the heat riser hose. The open element filter sure has cause me trouble. I just don't get it inspected in Austin anymore. I hope to move out to the country soon or a smaller town outside of Austin which should make life easier too.

I just kept the proper filter and faked the hose on the car that needed it. then i'd let the inspector watch as I put the open one back on after he put on the sticker.
